124 years after his birth he still fascinates people of all walks of life, that is a testament in an of itself.

He was “Ahead of His Time”

Charlie “The Tramp” belonged to all of us.

Though he became a rich & famous man he never forgot where he came from - a poor cockney boy from Victorian England.

My favorite Chaplin quote:
“My prodigious sin was, and still is, being a non-conformist”

I also run a facebook page:
Charlie Chaplin is for the Ages

Thanks you for the submission, I love this scene of him in The Circus, I like the fact that you felt inspired by him and always enjoy showing it. Most people can’t draw a straight line so don’t put your self down:)

I had heard that he was basically giving her a sad story of his plight as a much put upon worker, his boss was pretty brutal to him, at one point he very quickly and ever so subtle winks into the camera to let the viewers in on it :)

Charlie & Edna in his 1915 Essanay film “WORK”

Charlie & Edna in his 1915 Essanay film “WORK”

CITY LIGHTS - 1931

“David later confessed that he was absolutely sick with excitement, realizing that we were seeing a film which Chaplin had shot and cut, and of which he had made a graded print – absolutely complete and perfect, in its own way – and which had lain on the shelf unknown to anyone outside Chaplin’s immediate circle for fifty years. It was pure cinema – no subtitles were needed, no sound effects could have improved it. The sequence was the essence of Chaplin’s art. For he, more than anyone else in pictures, could take the smallest object, the least promising prop., and turn it into a fabulously funny sequence”.

Just yesterday, I was on deviantart and I had to inform someone that the digital painting they did was not Charlie Chaplin, but this faux Chaplin here. Kind of sad, since they did a pretty good job on it too.

I feel kind of bad when I see someone get a tattoo of this guy and think “they are going to have fake Charlie on them for the rest of their lives”.
