SUNNYSIDE - 1919
In this dream sequence Edna gives Charlie back his ring.
The Rink - 1916
Charlie & Edna meet for the first time at the roller skating rink. Their skating together in this is so cute.
I told Sennett:
“All I need to make a comedy is a park, a policeman and a pretty girl.”
Charles Chaplin “My Autobiography” - 1964
WORK – 1915 ESSANAY
Charlie is a wall paper hanger, instead of working takes a break to tell the maid the sad story of his life.
These are screen caps from “UNKNOWN CHAPLIN”, it shows some outtakes from the film “BEHIND THE SCREEN” in 1916, the thing I like about these 2 pictures though not very clear is how playful and comfortable Charlie Chaplin and Edna Purviance were with each other, I find it so endearing. She’s my favorite Chaplin leading lady.
